Note: Decorative technique in which thin pieces of gold and silver leaf that have been shaped into squares, strips or lozenges are applied to lacquerware, paintings, and sculptures. Originally introduced to Japan during the Nara period (710-794), the technique was popular from the Heian period (794-1185) through the Kamakura period (1185-1333).

Chinese (traditional) ..... 裝飾技術,是將漆成薄片,正方形或條狀的金和銀薄片切成薄片,用於漆器,繪畫和雕塑。該技術最初在奈良時代(710-794)引入日本,從平安時代(794-1185)到鎌倉時代(1185-1333)一直很流行。 
Dutch ..... Decoratieve techniek waarbij vierkanten, stroken of ruitvormen worden gemaakt van dunne stukken bladgoud en bladzilver, en worden aangebracht op lakwerk, schilderijen en beeldhouwwerken. De techniek werd geïntroduceerd in Japan tijdens de Nara-periode (710 tot 794) en was populair van de Heian-periode (794-1185) tot de Kamakura-periode (1185-1333). De term wordt ook gebruikt voor de gebruikte stukken goud of zilver.
