Note: Refers to maps representing a region at a level of detail or scale between a plan, which is a small area, and a chorographic map, which is a large regional map. The term refers to maps of various scales in different nations; it is generally limited to maps at scales of 1:500,000 or larger in the United States, but it often refers to scales of 1:1,000,000 or larger in Russia. | Dutch ..... Verwijst naar kaarten die een regio weergeven op een schaal die ligt tussen die van een plattegrond (die een klein gebied weergeeft) en een chorografische kaart (een grote regionale kaart). Topografische kaarten bevatten nauwkeurige weergaven van de locatie en vorm van zowel natuurlijke als door mensen aangebrachte kenmerken. De term verwijst naar kaarten die in verschillende landen verschillende schalen kunnen hebben, en is in de Verenigde Staten meestal beperkt tot kaarten met een schaal van 1:500.000 of groter, maar in Rusland kan de schaal wel 1:1.000.000 of groter zijn. Vaak wordt de term ten onrechte gebruikt voor kaarten die alleen natuurlijke reliëfkenmerken weergeven. |
