Note: Refers to the style of artistic production in Dutch colonies featuring a combination of Dutch and native characteristics. Applied to architecture, the style refers especially to structures in South Africa and parts of North America featuring gambrel roofs, overhanging eaves, stepped gables, and brickwork. It also describes furniture produced especially in the East Indies between 1602 and 1942 characterized by twisted legs or bed-posts, canework, and the use of native woods such as satinwood, teak, ebony, and calamander.

| Dutch ..... Verwijst naar de stijl van artistieke voortbrengselen in de Nederlandse koloniën met een combinatie van Nederlandse en inheemse kenmerken. In de architectuur verwijst de term in het bijzonder naar bouwwerken in Zuid-Afrika en delen van Noord-Amerika, gekenmerkt door gebroken mansardedaken, overhangende dakranden, trapgevels en gemetselde baksteen. De term wordt ook gebruikt om meubilair te beschrijven dat is vervaardigd in Oost-Indië tussen 1602 en 1942, en dat wordt gekenmerkt door gedraaide poten of bedstijlen, rietwerk en het gebruik van inheemse houtsoorten zoals satijn-, teak-, ebben- en kalamanderhout. |
