Note: Refers to the intellectual and artistic movement among Mexican writers and artists such as Fermín Revueltas and Diego Rivera in the 1920s. The movement is characterized by a focus on cosmopolitanism and the public obligations of art and by a disdain for the academic art world and the Symbolist movement. The movement, borrowing ideas from Futurist manifestos and Spanish Ultraist ideas, roused a strong cultural revival at the community level, criticizing religiosity and patriotism, promoting the Muralist movement in Mexico, and advocating the USSR as an ideological model.

| Dutch ..... Verwijst naar de intellectuele en artistieke stroming onder Mexicaanse schrijvers en kunstenaars als Fermín Revueltas en Diego Rivera in de jaren 20 van de 20ste eeuw. Kenmerkend voor deze stroming is dat zij het kosmopolitisme en de publieke verplichtingen van de kunst centraal stelt, en de academische kunstwereld en het symbolisme minacht. De stroming, die ideeën overnam van futuristische manifesten en Spaanse ultraïstische denkbeelden, veroorzaakte een sterke culturele heropleving op gemeenschapsniveau. De stroming bekritiseerde religiositeit en patriottisme, steunde de Muralismo-stroming in Mexico en prees de USSR als ideologisch model. |

El movimiento se caracteriza por fijar su atención en el cosmopolitismo y las obligaciones públicas del arte y por un desdén por el mundo del arte académico y el movimiento Simbolista. El movimiento toma prestadas ideas de los manifiestos Futuristas y de las ideas extremistas españolas animando un fuerte renacimiento cultural al nivel de la comunidad, criticando la religiosidad y el patriotismo, impulsando el movimiento Muralista en México, y apoyando a la URSS como un modelo ideológico. |
