Note: Stringed projectile weapons designed to propel arrows, generally consisting of a long stave of wood, metal, fiberglass, or other flexible material, with a length of strong string fastened to the tips of the stave which is bent in a curve, either permanently or from the tension of the string. The string is drawn back, holding the arrow by means of a notch in its rear tip, and propels the arrow upon release.

Additional Notes:
Chinese (traditional) ..... 裝有弦、用以射箭的武器,一般是由一條長的木質、金屬、玻璃纖維或其他彈性材料製成的棍棒所構成。將一條堅固的弦綁在棍棒兩端,有的棍棒本身即呈弧狀彎曲,有的則因為弦被拉緊而彎成弧狀。將弦向後拉,利用箭尾的槽口扣住箭,當弦被放掉時可把箭射出去。 
Dutch ..... Bespannen projectielwapens die zijn bedoeld om pijlen mee af te schieten en die meestal bestaan uit een langen staaf van hout, metaal, fiberglas of een ander buigzaam materiaal. Er is een stuk sterk touw gespannen tussen de uiteinden van de stok die is gekromd, als normale vorm of door de spanning van de pees. De pees wordt naar achteren getrokken, waarbij de pijl op zijn plaats wordt gehouden door een inkeping in de achterkant; de pijl schiet weg wanneer de pees wordt losgelaten. 
Spanish ..... Armas de cuerda para proyectiles creadas para lanzar flechas, generalmente consistentes en una larga varilla de madera, metal, fibra de vidrio u otra materia elástica, con un trozo de cuerda fuerte sujeta en ambos extremos de la vara que se dobla formando una curva, ya sea permanentemente o por la tensión de la cuerda. La cuerda es tensada hacia atrás, sosteniendo la flecha mediante una muesca en su extremo inferior, lanzando la flecha al soltarla.
