Note: Genus containing one or two species of grass native to the Mediterranean region. These species had traditionally been included in genus Stipa because of their similar elongated florets and persistent, long awns. It is now agreed that they differ from Stipa in other characteristics and in having a different chromosome base number.

| Dutch ..... Genus van een of twee soorten grassen, inheems in het Middellandse Zeegebied. Deze soorten werden traditioneel in het genus Stipa ondergebracht vanwege hun langwerpige bloempjes en lange taaie kafnaalden. Men is het er nu echter over eens dat de soorten uit dit genus wat andere kenmerken betreft van die uit Stipa verschillen. Bovendien hebben ze een verschillend aantal chromosomen. |
