Note: Cards distributed by merchants or manufacturers to advertise or promote their business or product; their use may have been as "premiums." For small printed sheets or cards bearing tradesmen's advertisements from the 17th through the 19th century, use "trade cards." For cards made later, bearing the name and address of a business concern and the name of its representative, and intended more for information than for advertising, use "business cards." For cards made later and issued primarily to be collected, with or without advertisements on them, use "collecting cards." For cards intended to be posted as public advertisements, use "posters" or its narrower terms.

| Chinese (traditional) ..... 商人或製造商發送的卡片，用以宣傳產品或提昇公司知名度，有時候用作為贈品。十七至十九世紀期間印有店家廣告的小張印刷傳單或卡片，稱為「貿易卡」。其後出現的卡片，上面印有公司名稱與地址以及代表名字，目的為提供資訊多過廣告功能者，稱為「名片」。較晚出現，主要製作、發行以供收藏的卡片，不論上面有無廣告，則稱為「收藏卡」。用來郵寄做為大眾廣告用途的卡片，則用「廣告海報」或其更窄義的名稱。 |
| Dutch ..... Wordt gebruikt voor kaarten die door verkopers of fabrikanten worden verspreid om reclame te maken voor een product, soms als extraatje bij hun product. Voor kleine bedrukte bladen of kaarten met handelsadvertenties, gebruikt van de 17e tot en met de 19e eeuw, wordt 'handelskaarten' gebruikt. Voor later gemaakte kaarten, met de naam en het adres van een bedrijf en de naam van de vertegenwoordiger erop, die zijn bedoeld ter informatie en niet zozeer als advertentie wordt 'adreskaartjes' gebruikt. Voor latere kaarten die vooral uitgegeven zijn om te worden verzameld, met of zonder advertenties, gebruik 'verzamelkaarten'. Voor kaarten bestemd om te worden opgehangen als openbare advertentie, gebruik 'posters' of de specifiekere termen daarvan. |

Para pequeñas hojas impresas o tarjetas con avisos de comerciantes desde el siglo XVII hasta fines del siglo XIX, use "tarjeta comercial." Para tarjetas hechas posteriormente, con el nombre y la dirección de un negocio y el nombre de su representante y destinadas más para dar información que para hacer publicidad, use "tarjeta de negocio." Para tarjetas hechas posteriormente y originalmente para ser coleccionadas use "tarjeta de colección". Para tarjetas que intentan ser enviadas como avisos públicos, use "póster" o un término cercano. |
