Note: Refers to threads of glass that are applied as a decoration, generally on the body, foot, or handle of a vessel. The threads may be laid down in straight rows or in a pattern or chain. Trailings were first seen in ancient Roman glass, and were also popular in medieval and later glass. They are distinct from "threadings," which are independent designs that are often partially free-standing.

Additional Notes:
Dutch ..... Verwijst naar glasdraden die als decoratie zijn aangebracht, meestal op de romp, de voet of het handvat van een vat. De draden kunnen in rechte rijen, in een bepaald patroon of in een kettingvorm zijn aangebracht. Trailings verschenen voor het eerst op oud Romeins glas, en waren ook populair bij glas uit de Middeleeuwen en later. Er is een kenmerkend verschil met draadwerk, waar het zelfstandige, vaak deels vrijstaande ontwerpen betreft.
