Note: A form of electron microscopy in which the electron beam passes through a very thin sample, deflecting or scattering some of the electrons which are focused by magnetic lenses onto a screen or photographic plate. The technique is used to visualize the interior structure of such specimens as cells and tissues.

Dutch ..... Een vorm van elektronenmicroscopie waarin de elektronenstraal door een zeer dun monster gaat, waardoor sommige elektronen afgekaatst of verstrooid worden. Deze worden vervolgens met magnetische lenzen op een scherm of een fotografisch plaatje gericht. Deze techniek wordt gebruikt om de interne structuur van bijvoorbeeld cellen of weefsels in beeld te brengen.
