Note: Educational institutions teaching at a level intermediate between elementary school and high school. The term is used primarily in North America, and usually covers grades 7 through 9. In some areas, usage with "middle schools" may overlap; however, most school systems that have a middle school typically do not also have a junior high school. Middle schools in most areas accept children a year or two younger than those in junior high schools.

| Dutch ..... Onderwijsinstellingen in de Verenigde Staten die meestal de eerste drie klassen van de middelbare school omvatten. In sommige regio's komt de betekenis overeen met 'middle schools', maar de meeste schoolsystemen met een middle school kennen meestal geen junior high school. In de meeste regio's worden op middle schools kinderen toegelaten die een of twee jaar jonger zijn dan kinderen in junior high schools. |
