Note: An alloy of about five parts of copper with one of zinc that is used as imitation gold. It is similar to brass but contains more copper. It was invented by a London watchmaker named Christopher Pinchbeck, ca. 1740. Pinchbeck was often used in clock making and the production of inexpensive jewelry and snuffboxes, particularly by craftsmen in London. |

Chinese (traditional) ..... 一種銅鋅成分約為5:1的合金,用來仿金。與黃銅類似,不過銅含量更高。約在西元1740年時由倫敦鐘錶匠克利斯多弗‧皮區別克(Christopher Pinchbeck)發明。飾用黃銅常用於製作時鐘,也可製造廉價的首飾和鼻煙盒,多為倫敦工匠所使用。 |
Dutch ..... Legering die bestaat uit circa vijf delen rood koper en één deel zink die als imitatiegoud wordt gebruikt. Pinsbek lijkt op messing maar bevat een hoger gehalte aan rood koper. Pinsbek is circa 1740 uitgevonden door de Londense horlogemaker Christopher Pinchbeck. Pinsbek werd vaak toegepast door klokkenmakers en bij de vervaardiging van goedkope sieraden en snuifdozen, in het bijzonder door ambachtslieden in Londen. |
