Note: Coffins made of cast iron, particularly those that were manufactured in the early through mid-19th century in the United States, used to transport and preserve corpses. Usage declined after effective embalming became prevalent. The primary manufacturer was Almond Dunbar Fisk in Providence, Rhode Island.

Dutch ..... Doodskisten van gietijzer, met name de kisten die begin tot midden van de 19de eeuw in de Verenigde Staten werden vervaardigd en die werden gebruikt voor het vervoer en de conservering van lijken. Het gebruik nam af nadat effectieve balseming haar intrede had gedaan. De belangrijkste fabrikant was Almond Dunbar Fisk in Providence, Rhode Island.
