Note: General term for a popular type of paper that is blue in color and historically was used primarily as artists' drawing paper and for some other uses; first documented in 1389 in Europe. The dyes used to create the blue or purplish color vary by place of manufacture. The term is often reserved for Western drawing papers produced prior to the introduction of aniline dyes in the late 19th century.

Dutch ..... Algemene term voor een populaire papiersoort die blauw van kleur is en historisch gezien vooral werd gebruikt als tekenpapier voor kunstenaars en voor enkele andere toepassingen. Deze werd voor het eerst gedocumenteerd in 1389 in Europa. De kleurstoffen die worden gebruikt om de blauwe of paarse kleur te creëren, variëren per plaats van vervaardiging. Deze blauwe kleur wordt verklaard door de populariteit van indigo als blauwe kleurstof. De term is vaak voorbehouden aan westers tekenpapier dat vóór de introductie van de anilinekleurstoffen aan het eind van de 19e eeuw werd geproduceerd.
