Note: Dense, fine, plain woven black cloth with a plain or twill weave. The raw yardage is creased or folded double, with its two lists brought together, as for cloth over 54 inches wide. Historically made of wool, broadcloth is used chiefly in the construction of menswear. |

Dutch ..... Historische term voor een wollen stof die eerst wordt geweven (in platbinding of keperbinding) en vervolgens wordt vervilt. Daardoor is hij warmer dan geweven stoffen maar sterker dan vilt. De historische lakennijverheid had de neiging zich in bepaalde gebieden te concentreren, zoals Noord-Frankrijk, Vlaanderen en Holland. |
