Note: Gunda Gundé style takes its name from the location of the Stephanite monastery of Dabra Garzen, noted for its manuscript illuminations. It is characterized large, exaggeratedly rounded backs of the figures, almond-shaped eyes, dotted motif employed in their clothing, extreme stylization of the figures, and geometric regularity. |
