Note: Curved swords derived from the sabres used historically by Egyptian Mamluk warriors. In the 19th century, several western armies, such as the French and the British, adopted these. The western version had a similar hilt, but the blade resembled that of contemporary western sabres. |

Dutch ..... Krom zwaard dat afgeleid is van de sabels die de Egyptische mammelukken origineel gebruikten. In de 19de eeuw werd het door verschillende westerse legers, waaronder de Fransen en de Britten, overgenomen. De westerse versie van de sabel had hetzelfde gevest, maar het lemmet leek meer op dat van moderne westerse sabels. |
