Note: Designates structures in which charged particles, generally subatomic particles such as protons or electrons, are accelerated by means of an alternating electric field whose frequency is kept constant to remain synchronous with the particles.They are confined to a closed circular orbit by a changing magnetic field, the strength of which is increased to keep the path’s radius constant as the particles gain mass and their momentum increases.

| Dutch ..... Speciale constructies waarin geladen deeltjes, meestal subatomaire deeltjes zoals protonen of elektronen, worden versneld door middel van een alternerend elektrisch veld met een constante frequentie zodat het synchroon blijft met de deeltjes. De deeltjes worden binnen een gesloten circulaire baan gehouden door een veranderend magnetisch veld, waarvan de sterkte wordt verhoogd om de straal van het pad constant te houden terwijl de deeltjes massa winnen en hun momentum toeneemt. |
