Note: Soft, fine-grained wood of the species Liriodendron tulipifera of North America. The sapwood is usually a creamy off-white color; heartwood is pale green, often with streaks of red, purple, or black. It is cheap, easy-to-work, can take a sharp edge, and is stable, used to seal pipes and valves in organs, for siding clapboards, coffin boxes, pattern timber, and wooden ware.

| Dutch ..... Zacht hout met een fijne nerf van de soort Liriodendron tulipifera uit Noord-Amerika. Het spinthout is meestal roomachtig gebroken wit; het kernhout is bleekgroen, vaak met rode, paarse of zwarte strepen. Het is goedkoop, eenvoudig te bewerken, kan scherp worden gemaakt en is stabiel. Het wordt gebruikt om pijpen en kleppen van orgels af te dichten, voor dakspanen, doodskisten, gemodelleerd hout en houtwaren. |
