Note: Refers to maiolica with usually polychrome decorations of historical, mythological, Biblical, or allegorical scenes painted over most of the surface. It was first produced about 1500 and is associated with Urbino. The earliest examples were decorated only in the well of plates and dishes; later the decoration extended to the entire inner surface. Images were often derived from works of contemporary artists, notably those reproduced in the engravings of Marcantonio Raimondi.

| Dutch ..... Verwijst naar majolica met doorgaans veelkleurige voorstellingen van historische, mythologische, Bijbelse of allegorische aard die bijna het gehele oppervlak beslaan. Werd voor het eerst vervaardigd rond 1500 en wordt geassocieerd met Urbino. Bij de vroegste voorbeelden werd alleen het diepste gedeelte van borden en schalen beschilderd; later breidde de beschildering zich uit naar de gehele binnenkant. Afbeeldingen waren vaak ontleend aan kunstwerken uit die tijd, vooral kunstwerken die waren gereproduceerd in de gravures van Marcantonio Raimondi. |
