Note: Cases made for storing photographs, particularly the distinctive cases made in the 19th century and early 20th centuries for display on table tops. The box is often made of wood, metal, or another material, open at the top, and often with feet and handles, constructed for storing the photographs vertically. There may be a decorative opening at the front and back of the box to allow a photograph to be displayed. The term may also be used for modern boxes that serve the same purpose, even if they are of a different design.

| Dutch ..... Dozen om foto's in te bewaren, met name de kenmerkende dozen die in de negentiende en vroege twintigste eeuw werden gemaakt en die waren bedoeld om op tafel neer te zetten. De doos is vaak gemaakt van hout, metaal of een ander materiaal en is vaak van boven open. Vaak ook heeft de doos poten en handvatten, een constructie om foto's verticaal te bewaren. Sommige dozen hebben een decoratieve opening aan de voor- en achterkant die het mogelijk maakt om een foto uit te stallen. De term kan ook worden gebruikt voor moderne dozen met hetzelfde doel, ook al hebben ze een ander ontwerp. |
