Note: Silver beaten out into thin leaf for use in gilding. Silver leaf is about three times as thick as gold leaf because silver is less malleable but the resulting leaf is easier to handle. It requires lacquering or varnishing to prevent tarnishing; for this reason it is often replaced by palladium leaf. In the commerical arts inexpensive aluminum leaf is used to achieve the effect of silver leaf. Silver leaf can also be covered with a golden yellow transparent coating as a substitute for gold.

Additional Notes:
Dutch ..... Tot een dunne laag gehamerd zilver dat als verguldsel wordt gebruikt. Bladzilver is ongeveer drie keer zo dik als bladgoud, aangezien zilver minder kneedbaar is, terwijl het resulterende bladzilver beter te verwerken is. Bladzilver dient te worden gelakt of gevernist om metaalaanslag te voorkomen; om die reden wordt vaak de voorkeur gegeven aan bladpalladium. In de commerciële kunst wordt goedkoop bladaluminium gebruikt om het effect van bladzilver te simuleren. Bladzilver kan ook worden bedekt met een transparant goudgeel laagje om als vervanging voor goud te dienen. 
Spanish ..... Plata que es golpeada hasta transformarse en una delgada lámina que es utilizada para dorar. La lámina de plata es tres veces más gruesa que la lámina de oro, porque la plata es menos maleable, pero la hoja resultante es más fácil de manejar. Requiere ser lacada o barnizada para evitar que se oscurezca, por esta razón es a menudo reemplazada por hoja de paladio. En las artes comerciales de bajo costo se utiliza la hoja de aluminio para lograr el efecto de la hoja de plata. La hoja de plata también puede ser cubierta con un baño de color amarillo dorado transparente como un sustituto de oro.
