|
Note: Refers to an alloy used in the jewelry and watch trade during the 17th and 18th centuries, mostly in England; it was golden in color and was probably an alloy of copper and zinc that resembled brass. Some sources specifically describe it as a type of brass with a composition of three parts copper to one of zinc pickled in a diluted spirit of vitriol and then immersed in aquafortis before burnishing. Prince's metal was supposedly invented by Prince Rupert of the Rhine.

| Chinese (traditional) ..... 指一種合金，十七及十八世紀期間用於首飾及手錶貿易，主要見於英格蘭。顏色為金色，可能為類似黃銅的銅鋅合金。有些文獻特別將其描述為黃銅的一種，其銅鋅成分為3:1，先浸於稀釋的硫酸酒精，再浸於王水，而後才擦亮。高鋅黃銅可能為萊茵河的魯珀特王子（Prince Rupert）所發明。 |
| Dutch ..... Verwijst naar een legering die in de 17de en 18de eeuw werd gebruikt door sieraden- en horlogemakers, hoofdzakelijk in Engeland; het goudkleurige prinsmetaal bestond vermoedelijk uit een legering van koper en zink die op messing leek. Sommige bronnen beschrijven het specifiek als een type messing bestaande uit drie delen koper en één deel zink dat in een bad met een verdund vitrioolmengsel werd gelegd, vervolgens in aquafortis werd ondergedompeld en ten slotte werd gepolijst. Prinsmetaal zou zijn ontdekt door prins Rupert van de Rijn. |
