Note: Refers to lace made at Chantilly, Oise departement, France, since the 18th century. It is characterized by being delicate, made of silk or linen, and having a six-sided mesh ground and a distinctive floral or scrolled design. Later designs include ribbons, naturalistic flowers, and other designs on a dotted background. Chantilly lace dating from the 19th century was produced in three colors: white, black, and "blond," which was the natural beige color of silk. It was made into large items such as veils, shawls, other of apparel, and household dresser covers and draperies. Chantilly lace was copied in machine lace from 1840 on.

| Dutch ..... Verwijst naar kant die sinds de 18de eeuw wordt gemaakt in Chantilly in het Franse departement Oise. Chantillykant wordt gekenmerkt door zijn verfijndheid en is gemaakt van zijde of linnen. De ondergrond is van een zeszijdig maaswerk en een opvallend bloem- of krulmotief. Latere ontwerpen bevatten linten, naturalistische bloemen en andere motieven op een gespikkelde ondergrond. Chantillykant werd in de 19de eeuw in drie kleuren geproduceerd: wit, zwart en 'blond', de natuurlijke beige kleur van zijde. Er werden grote voorwerpen mee gemaakt, zoals sluiers, sjaals, andere kledingstukken, bedekkingen voor dressoirs en lakens. Chantillykant werd vanaf 1840 nagemaakt als machinale kant. |

| Spanish ..... Se refiere a encaje hecho en Chantilly, departamento de Oise, Francia, desde el siglo XVIII. Se caracteriza por ser delicado, hecho de seda o lino y tener una malla base de seis lados y un diseño floral o volutas. Más tarde los diseños incluían cintas, flores naturalistas y otros diseños en un fondo punteado. El encaje de Chantilly datado en el siglo XIX fue producido en tres colores: blanco, negro y "rubio," el color beige natural de la seda. Fue hecho para grandes artículos como velas, chales y otros en ropa, y coberturas y draperías para el hogar. El encaje de Chantilly fue copiado en máquina desde 1840.
