Note: Refers to an annual spring festival that is the last festival of the Hindu calendar, occuring on the full-moon day of Phalguna in February or March. The festival is probably ancient in origin and is characterized by its sense of playfulness and reversal of normal codes of behavior. It is only on this day that the typical restrictions of caste, sex, age, and status are set aside. Celebrants throw colored waters and powders on one another and celebrations are known for their ribald language and behavior. Some participants may drink 'bhang,' an intoxicating beverage made with hemp. Bonfires are lit the preceding evening to signify the triumph of good over evil and the end of winter; a straw figure of the witch Holikā may be burnt in the fires. The festival is especially associated with Krishna, the young god known for his frivolity. The Dolayatra (swinging of the god) festival takes place during Holi; images of the gods on decorated platforms are swung to the accompaniment of special songs.

| Chinese (traditional) ..... 一年一度的春天節慶，是印度曆中最後一個節日，在頗勒窶拿月份滿月時舉行，亦即西曆2月或3月之時。這個節慶的起源可能相當古老，以具玩性、翻轉一般行為準則的性質為特色；只有在這天人們得以不顧種性、性別與年齡的傳統束縛，將社會階級限制放在一邊。群眾在慶典上互潑彩水，互丟染色彩粉末，慶典中以猥褻下流的言語與行為聞名。有些慶祝者會喝大麻釀的含酒精「印度大麻」飲料。營火的燃起象徵光明戰勝邪惡，並告別寒冬；稻草紮成的霍利卡女巫會被丟入火中焚燒。這個節日尤其與克里希納有關連；克里希納是一位年輕的神祉，祂的輕浮行為眾所皆知。回旋節（神的搖擺）慶典在歡悅節期間舉行，眾神圖像掛在張燈結彩的平台上，隨著特別樂曲搖曳著。 |
| Dutch ..... Verwijst naar een jaarlijks lentefeest dat het laatste feest op de hindoeïstische kalender vormt en wordt gevierd op de dag van de volle maan van de maand Phalguna (februari/maart). Het feest is waarschijnlijk al zeer oud en wordt gekenmerkt door speelsheid en het omkeren van normale gedragscodes. Dit is de enige dag dat de karakteristieke beperkingen van kaste, sekse, leeftijd en status terzijde worden geschoven. De feestvierders gooien gekleurd water en poeder naar elkaar en de festiviteiten staan bekend om hun ongeremdheid in taal en gedrag. Sommige deelnemers drinken 'bhang', een bedwelmende hennepdrank. Op de voorafgaande avond worden vreugdevuren ontstoken om de overwinning van het goede over het kwade en het eind van de winter te markeren; soms wordt in de vuren een stropop van de heks Holika verbrand. Het festival wordt met name geassocieerd met Krishna, de jonge god die bekendstaat om zijn frivoliteit. Het feest van Doloyatra, het 'zwaaien van de god', vindt plaats tijdens Holi. Op versierde platforms wordt met afbeeldingen van de goden gezwaaid onder begeleiding van speciale liederen. |
| Spanish ..... Se refiere a un festival anual de primavera que es el ultimo festival del calendario Hindú, se realiza en el día de luna llena de Phalguna en febrero o marzo. El festival es probablemente antiguo en su origen y es caracterizado por su sentido de picardía e inversión de los códigos normales de conducta. Es solamente en este día que las típicas restricciones de casta, sexo, edad y estatus son dejadas de lado. Los celebrantes se arrojan agua y polvos coloreados unos con otro y las celebraciones son conocidas por su lenguaje y comportamiento procaz. Algunos participantes pueden tomar "bhang", una bebida alcohólica hecha de cáñamo índico. Fogatas son prendidas en la tarde precedente para significar el triunfo de dios sobre el demonio y el fin del invierno; una figura de paja de la bruja Holika puede ser quemada en las hogueras. El festival está especialmente asociado con Krishna, el joven dios conocido por su frivolidad.
