Note: Refers to techniques used to produce the appearance of three-dimensionality in photographs by using two images made at slightly different positions, mounting them side by side, and viewing the pair through a stereoscope or other device. This type of photography was extremely popular in the Victorian period. The process was described in 1832, but the techniques were perfected only after 1856, when a twin-lens camera was designed to take two pictures of the same scene simultaneously. The viewpoints of the photographs were 2 1/2 inches apart, which is approximately the normal distance between human eyes.

| Chinese (traditional) ..... 是指在相片中製造出三度空間立體顯像的技術，運用從兩個稍有差異之角度所拍攝的影像，並排固定後，透過立體鏡或其他裝置來觀賞成對的相片。此類型的攝影在維多利亞時代非常受到歡迎。該技法在1832年即有記載，但相關技術要等到1856年之後才臻完美，當時設計出一種雙鏡頭相機，可以同時替一個景拍攝兩張相片。這種照片的視點距離為2又1/2英吋，大約是人類雙眼之間的一般距離。 |
| Dutch ..... Verwijst naar technieken gericht op het suggereren van driedimensionaliteit in foto's door het gebruik van twee beelden die vanuit enigszins verschillende standpunten zijn gemaakt, waarna ze naast elkaar worden gemonteerd en door een stereoscoop of een ander hulpmiddel bekeken moeten worden. Deze vorm van fotografie was uitermate populair tijdens de Victoriaanse periode. Het proces werd al in 1832 beschreven, maar de technieken werden pas na 1856 geperfectioneerd toen een camera met dubbele lens werd ontwikkeld om tegelijkertijd twee foto's te maken van hetzelfde tafereel. De perspectieven van de foto's waren 6,5 centimeter van elkaar verwijderd, ongeveer de normale afstand tussen de ogen van een mens. |
