Note: Religion that draws upon Taoism, Confucianism, and Buddhism as sources for its doctrines and practices. It is a school or sect of religious Taoism founded by Wang Ch'un-yang (1112-1170) in 1163 after he met a hermit claiming to be an incarnation of two of the immortals and from whom he received secret teachings. Ch'uan-yang drew on classic Tao sources as well as on sources outside the Taoist tradition, particularly from Zen Buddhism. Every disciple of this school has the objective of realizing Tao in experience, through understanding his own mind and nature in relation to Tao. The school was favored by the Mongols and its second patriarch, Ch'iu Ch'ang-ch'un, was invited into Central Asia to preach to Genghis Khan. The school was immensely popular and its establishments of celibate monks continued to be active into the 20th century, with the famous White Cloud Monastery at Beijing as headquarters. This particular monastery is of the Lung-men (or Dragon Gate) school, one of the most important of several movements that came out of Ch'üan-chen tao.

| Chinese (traditional) ..... 由儒釋道三教教義及實踐發展出的道教一支主要派別。創立者王重陽(Wang Ch'un-yang, 1112-1170)遇到一個自稱為兩位神仙之化身的隱士，從之獲得神秘的啟發，後於西元1163年創立全真道。王重陽師法道教經典及道教以外的傳統，尤其是禪佛。此教派門徒以修道為目標，透過了解自身心智及本性與道之間的關係而悟道。此派別深受蒙古人歡迎，其第二位教主邱長春(Ch'iu Ch'ang-ch'un)更曾被邀請至中亞向成吉思汗(Genghis Khan)講道。此派別非常普及，修道者所設立的體制到二十世紀依然活躍，著名的總部白雲觀(White Cloud Monastery)位於北京。白雲觀屬於龍門(Lung-men或Dragon Gate)派，為全真道最重要的分支之一。 |
| Dutch ..... Verwijst naar een belangrijke school of sekte binnen het religieuze taoïsme, in 1163 gesticht door Wang Chuan-yang (1112-1170) nadat hij een kluizenaar had ontmoet die zei een incarnatie van twee van de onsterfelijken te zijn en van wie hij geheim onderricht ontving. Chuan-yang baseerde zich op klassieke taoïstische bronnen en op bronnen buiten de taoïstische traditie, in het bijzonder uit het zenboeddhisme. Elke volgeling van deze school heeft als doel het bereiken van de tao-ervaring door inzicht in zijn eigen geest en aard in relatie tot de tao. De beweging had de voorkeur van de Mongolen, en de tweede patriarch, Chiu Chang-chun, werd uitgenodigd om naar Midden-Azië te komen en te preken voor Dzjengis Khan. De school was immens populair en de gemeenschappen van celibataire monniken bleven actief tot in de 20ste eeuw met het befaamde Klooster van de Witte Wolken in Peking als hoofdkwartier. Dit klooster behoort tot de school van Lung-men (Drakenpoort), een van de belangrijkste van verscheidene bewegingen die zijn voorgekomen uit Chuan-chen tao. |

Se refiere a una escuela mayor o secta de Taoísmo religioso fundada por Wang Ch'un-yang (1112-1170) en 1163 luego que él conoció a un ermitaño que afirmaba ser una encarnación de dos de los dioses y de quienes recibió enseñanzas secretas. Ch'uan-yang utilizó fuentes Tao clásicas así como fuentes fuera de la tradición taoísta, particularmente del Budismo Zen.
