Note: Refers to a type of glass characterized by being one deep color throughout its thickness. The process by which it is made is ancient, and requires the combination of silica, potash, and lime, with metal oxides added to the molten glass for color. The name refers to the metal oxides and the custom of melting the compound in a clay pot in the furnace. This type of glass was generally used in making stained-glass windows, with the typical effect of relatively little light penetrating the deep, saturated colors of the glass. A technique was later developed to create "flashed glass," which layers color over clear or white glass and allows more light to pass through the window.

| Chinese (traditional) ..... 一種玻璃，其特色為以單一深色佈滿全片玻璃。其製作方式古老，必須結合矽、鉀和石灰，再於熔融玻璃中加進金屬氧化物以產生色彩該玻璃名稱乃指內含金屬氧化物，並指出化合物放在陶盆內、加以熔於熔爐的過程。此種玻璃因顏色深且飽和，相對來說具有光線不易穿透的特有效果，因此通常用於製造彩繪玻璃窗。之後研發出製造「套色玻璃」的技術，將層層色彩疊至透明或白色玻璃上，讓更多光線穿透過窗戶。 |
| Dutch ..... Verwijst naar een type glas dat wordt gekenmerkt door het feit dat het één donkere kleur door en door heeft. Het vervaardigingsprocedé is al oud en is gebaseerd op een combinatie van silica, potas en kalk, waarbij de kleur ontstaat door toevoeging van metaaloxiden aan het gesmolten glas. De naam verwijst naar de metaaloxiden en naar de gewoonte om de verbinding in een pot van klei in de oven te smelten. Dit type glas werd doorgaans gebruikt bij de vervaardigd van glas-in-loodvensters, met als karakteristiek effect de betrekkelijk geringe hoeveelheid licht die door de warme, verzadigde kleuren van het glas heen dringt. Later werd een techniek ontwikkeld die 'cameeglas' werd genoemd, waarbij gekleurde lagen over helder of wit glas werden aangebracht, zodat het venster meer licht doorliet. |
| Spanish ..... Se refiere a un tipo de vidrio caracterizado por un color profundo en todo su espesor. El proceso de fabricación es antiguo y requiere combinar sílice, potasa y caliza, añadiendo óxidos metálicos para colorear el vidrio fundido. El nombre se refiere a los óxidos metálicos, y a la costumbre de fundir los componentes en un recipiente de arcilla en el horno. Este tipo de vidrio se utilizó en general para realizar vidrieras de cristales coloreados, con el efecto típico de que penetraba relativamente escasa luz a través de los colores más profundos y saturados del vidrio. Posteriormente fue desarrollada una técnica para crear el "Flashed glass", que superpone capas de color sobre capas de vidrio transparente o blanco, y permite que pase más luz a través de la ventana.
