Note: Religious masquerades of the Igbo people of Africa, performed in the northcentral Igbo region on very special occasions, such as yam festivals and major events associated with kingship. It features monumental mask costumes in the form of a huge cylinder or cone bearing a complex tableau of miniature human, animal, bird, and spirit figures made of brightly-colored cloth stuffed with grass.

| Dutch ..... Religieuze maskerades van het Afrikaanse Igbovolk, uitgevoerd in de noordelijk-centrale Igboregio bij heel speciale gelegenheden zoals yamfeesten en belangrijke gebeurtenissen rond het koningschap. Daarbij worden monumentale maskerkostuums gebruikt in de vorm van een enorme cilinder of kegel versierd met een ingewikkeld tableau van miniatuurfiguren van mensen, dieren, vogels en geesten die zijn gemaakt van felgekleurde stoffen gevuld met gras. |

Mascarada religiosa de la Igbo people of Africa, representada en la region centro-norte de Igbo en ocasiones muy especiales, tales como festivales del ñame y acontecimientos mayores asociados con la realeza. Se caracteriza por el uso de disfraces de máscaras monumentales que adoptan la forma de enormes cilindros o conos portando un complejo cuadro teatral en miniatura de figuras humanas, animales, aves y espíritus, confeccionados con tela brillantemente coloreada rellena de hierba. |
