Note: Color prints made using a combination printing process involving an intaglio, or occasionally lithographic, key plate which prints the image, after which color is superimposed on the print using wood blocks. The process was patented by an Englishman, George Baxter, in 1835, and was very popular up into the 1870s. The term is sometimes used to refer exclusively to prints made by Baxter himself; Baxter-process prints is a term used to describe prints of the same process made by other printers.

| Dutch ..... Kleurendrukken gemaakt volgens een gecombineerd drukprocedé met een intaglio of soms een lithografische basisplaat waarmee het beeld wordt afgedrukt, waarna kleur over de afdruk wordt aangebracht met behulp van houten blokken. De Engelsman George Baxter verkreeg in 1835 een patent voor dit procedé dat erg populair was tot in de jaren 70 van de 19de eeuw. De term wordt soms gebruikt om uitsluitend te verwijzen naar door Baxter zelf gemaakte afdrukken. Wanneer andere drukkers dit procedé toepasten, werd gesproken van 'Baxter process prints', afdrukken volgens het Baxter-procedé. |
