Dutch ..... Objecten zoals schilden, kokers of andere houders, gemaakt door de Indianen van de Plains van ongelooid leer van bizons of ander groot wild. term vooral gebruikt voor grote, rechthoekige op een enveloppe gelijkende houders, gewoonlijk maar niet uitsluitend van ongelooide bisonhuid, met karakteristieke geschilderde patronen, gebruikt voor het verpakken van gedroogd vlees en ander gedroogd voedsel, dekens of kleding.

Spanish ..... Úsese, en general, para cualquier artículo, como escudos, baúles o recipientes hechos por los indios de la llanura, desde cuero sin curtir hecho de visón u otro pellejo grande de animal. Usado especialmente para recipientes parecidos a sobres grandes, plegados, y rectangulares hechos generalmente, pero no exclusivamente de cuero crudo de visón, característicamente decorados con diseños pintados y usados para el empaque de carne desecada u otras comidas, desecadas, mantas, o ropa, por ejemplo.
