Dutch ..... Te gebruiken voor open, voor en achter gelijke roeiboten met een ronde bodem en meestal met een 7,5 tot 10,5 m breed zeil, die oorspronkelijk ontworpen zijn om walvissen te harpoeneren; staan vaak op grotere schepen maar kunnen ook vanaf de kust uitvaren en hun werk doen. 
German ..... Offenes, doppelendiges Ruderboot mit rundem Boden, gewöhnlich auch mit einem Segel ausgestattet, 7,5 bis 10,5 Meter lang, ursprünglich für das Harpunieren von Walen bestimmt; häufig mit einem größeren Schiff verbunden, es kann jedoch auch von der Küste aus operieren. 
Spanish ..... Úsese para designar un bote de remo abierto, de doble extremos, y fondo redondeados, también equipado generalmente con una vela, oscilando entre lo 25 a 35 pies. Diseñado originalmente para lanzar arpones a las ballenas. Con frecuencia, adheridos a barcos más grandes, aunque pueden operar desde la costa.
