Note: Japanese transverse flutes used in court music and some folk dances, made from a single tube of bamboo. They resemble the "nokan" in having seven equidistant fingerholes, a balancing weight in the upper end, a red-lacquered bore, and a wrapping of bark or twine, but are distinct in having a patch of ornament embroidered on a red ground on the upper end and in lacking the nokan's characteristic tube inserted into the bore between the mouth hole and nearest fingerhole.

Additional Notes:
Chinese (traditional) ..... 用於宮廷音樂或某些民俗舞蹈的日本橫笛,由單一竹管所製成。與「能管」一樣具有七個等距指孔、上端有一個平衡用重物、管身塗覆紅色亮漆、纏繞樹皮或麻繩,但與能管不同處在於:龍笛上端紅色底材上有一塊繡上的裝飾花紋;另外則是「能管」在吹孔與第一指孔間的管身中插入一個獨特的管子,而龍笛沒有。 
Dutch ..... Japanse dwarsfluiten gemaakt van een enkele bamboebuis. Net zoals de 'nokan' met zeven vingergaten op gelijke afstanden, een balansgewicht bovenaan, een roodgelakte boring en een omhulsel van schors of twijn. In tegenstelling tot bij de 'nokan' is een geborduurde versiering op rode achtergrond bovenaan aangebracht; voor hofmuziek en bij sommige volksdansen gebruikt. 
German ..... Japanische Querflöte, eingesetzt in der Hofmusik und bei einigen Volkstänzen, gefertigt aus einem einzigen Bambusrohr. Sie ähnelt der ["Nokan"](300224129) darin, dass sie sieben abstandsgleiche Grifflöcher hat, ein Ausgleichsgewicht am oberen Ende, eine rot lackierte Röhre und eine Umwicklung aus Rinde oder Schnur; sie unterscheidet sich aber durch eine Stelle mit Ornamenten, gestickt auf rotem Grund am oberen Ende, und das Fehlen der für die Nokan charakteristische Röhe, die zwischen dem Mundloch und dem ersten Griffloch eingefügt ist, 
Spanish ..... Flautas traveseras japonesas usadas en la música de la corte y en algunas danzas folclóricas, hechas de un solo tubo de bambú. Se asemejan a flautas "nokan” que tienen siete orificios digitales equidistantes, un contrapeso en el extremo superior, un diámetro interior laqueado en rojo, y una envoltura de corteza o cáñamo, pero siendo distintas en que tienen un parche de adorno bordado sobre un campo rojo en el extremo superior y en que no tienen el característico tubo de la flauta "nokan” introducido en el diámetro interior entre el orificio de boca y el orificio digital más próximo .
