Note: A potassium salt of lactic acid used to treat leather to counteract acid present in the leather from manufacturing processes or from air pollution; it is also used to safeguard against future incursion of acid or acid-forming material. Some controversy exists over the possible discoloration potassium lactate may cause to leather as well as its overall effectiveness as a leather/acid buffer.

| Chinese (traditional) ..... 一種乳酸鉀鹽，用來處理皮革，能中和空氣汙染和製造過程中出現的酸性物質。也可用來抵抗未來酸性物質腐蝕，或形成酸性物質的材料之腐蝕。然而乳酸鉀可能導致皮革褪色，其作為皮革／酸性物質緩衝劑的整體效果，都引發一些爭議。 |
| Dutch ..... Een kaliumzout van melkzuur dat bij leerbewerking wordt gebruikt om het zuur te neutraliseren dat ontstaat bij het productieproces of door luchtvervuiling. Het wordt ook gebruikt om te voorkomen dat het leer wordt aangetast door zuur of zuurvorming. Er is enige discussie over het gebruik van kaliumlactaat. Het middel zou het leer kunnen verkleuren en ook de algehele werkzaamheid als buffer tegen zuur is discutabel. |
| Spanish ..... Sal potásica del ácido láctico utilizada para tratar cueros, contrarrestando el ácido presente en el cuero después de los procesos de fabricación o por contaminación del aire. También se utiliza como salvaguarda contra futuros efectos de ácidos o de materiales que generan ácidos. Existe cierta controversia sobre la posible decoloración del cuero por efecto del lactato de potasio, así como sobre su eficacia global como tampón ácido para el cuero.
