Note: Two-masted, fore-and-aft-rigged sailing vessels with the smaller, mizzen, mast set forward of the rudder post; in use since the mid-19th century. For similar craft, but square-rigged on both masts and in use from the late 17th century until the early 19th century, use "ketches (square-rigged vessels)." For similar fore-and-aft-rigged craft with the mizzen set abaft the rudder post, use "yawls (sailing vessels)."

Additional Notes:
Dutch ..... Te gebruiken voor tweemasters met gaffeltuig, waarvan de kleinste mast, de bezaansmast, voor het roer is geplaatst; worden sinds halverwege de 19e eeuw gebruikt. Gebruik 'kitsen (vierkant getuigde vaartuigen)' voor soortgelijke vaartuigen die van de late 17e tot de vroege 19e eeuw werden gebruikt en vierkant zijn getuigd. Gebruik 'yawls (zeilvaartuigen) voor soortgelijke vaartuigen met gaffeltuig, waarvan de bezaansmast achter het roer is geplaatst. 
Spanish ..... Úsese para barco de vela con dos mástiles, aparejado longitudinalmente con un mástil más pequeño, mesana, dispuesto hacia delante del puesto del timón. En uso desde mediados del siglo XIX. Para embarcaciones similares, pero de aparejo cuadrado en ambos másticles y en uso desde finales del siglo XVII hasta principios del siglo XIX, use "queche”. Para embarcaciones similares aparejadas en sentido longitudinal con el palo de mesana colocado a popa del puesto de timón, use "yola”.
