Note: Cutting tools that consist of a relatively heavy edged, squarish head fixed to a handle, the edge or edges being parallel to the handle so as to be suited for striking, hewing, cleaving, or chopping, trees, wood, ice, or another material. For axes used as weapons, typically having wider blades, use "axes (weapons)." For similar tools that are smaller and lighter, use "hatchets." For long-handled tools with a curved blade set perpendicular to the handle and used for dressing lumber, use "adzes."

Additional Notes:
Dutch ..... Wordt gebruikt voor snijgereedschap dat bestaat uit een relatief zware kop met een snijkant die is bevestigd aan een handvat waarbij de snijkant(en) parallel lopen aan het handvat zodat het kan worden gebruikt voor hakken. Gebruik 'bijlen (wapens)' voor bijlen die worden gebruikt als wapens. 
German ..... Schneidwerkzeug, das aus einem recht schweren, kantigen Kopf besteht, der an einem Griff befestigt ist; die Schneide oder Schneiden liegen parallel zum Griff, so dass sie zum Schlagen geeignet sind. Für eine Axt, die als Waffe verwendet wird und typischerweise eine breitere Klinge besitzt, ist "Axt (Waffe)" zu verwenden.
