Note: Christian sect originating in Asia Minor and Syria that follows the beliefs of Nestorius, a 5th-century bishop of Constantinople whose doctrine was considered heretical by the established church. Nestorius stressed the independence of the divine and human natures of Christ and, in effect, suggested that they were two persons loosely united. Current members live in Iraq, Syria, and Iran.

| Dutch ..... Christelijke sekte die ontstond in Klein-Azië en Syrië en die het ketterse geloof volgt van Nestorius, een bisschop van Constantinopel in de 5de eeuw. Nestorius stelde dat de goddelijke en menselijke aard van Christus onafhankelijk van elkaar waren en dat het in feite twee personen waren. De meesten van de ongeveer 170.000 leden leven in Irak, Syrië en Iran. |
