Note: Refers to the art and architecture that coincided with the reign of Ahmed II, who ruled from 1703 to 1730. His reign forms the major part of what is known as the "Tulip Period." Ahmed is best-known for his patronage of the court painter Levni, who was in charge of one of the most famous of the later Ottoman historical manuscripts, the "Sūrnāma" or "Book of Festivals," ca. 1720. Ahmed is also known for building a number of fountains in the capital city with their characteristic Tulip Period decoration of low marble reliefs with images of vases of flowers. There was also an extensive period of development of palace architecture during this period, especially with the wooded seaside palace or yali, built along the Bosporus.

| Dutch ..... Verwijst naar de kunst en architectuur in de periode van de heerschappij van Ahmed II, die regeerde van 1703 tot 1730. Zijn heerschappij omspant het grootste gedeelte van wat bekend staat als de 'Tulpenperiode'. Ahmed staat vooral bekend om zijn patronaat van de hofschilder Levni, die verantwoordelijk was voor een van de beroemdste latere Ottomaanse historische manuscripten, de 'Sūrnāma' of het 'Festivalboek', uit ca. 1720. Ahmed staat ook bekend om het bouwen van een aantal fonteinen in de hoofdstad met hun karakteristieke decoratie uit de Tulpenperiode, bestaande uit lage marmeren reliëfs met afbeeldingen van vazen met bloemen. Er was ook een langdurige periode van ontwikkeling van paleisarchitectuur tijdens deze periode, vooral met betrekking tot het houten kustpaleis of yali, gebouwd aan de Bosporus. |
