Note: Refers to the style and period that coincided with the rule of Bayazid II, 'the Pious,' 1481 to 1512. Bayezid oversaw the construction of two riverbank complexes, the Amasya complex completed in 1486, and the Edrine complex, probably built by Hayreddin in 1488. The latter, with its contrasting golden and red sandstone ornamentation and dark-gray lead roof, presents one of the most effective examples of Ottoman classical architecture at its early stages of development. Also under his patronage, the Ottoman narrative painting style began to take form. Bayezid also brought Syh Hamdullah from Amasya to Istanbul where the tradition of this great Ottoman calligrapher lasted well into the 18th century.

| Dutch ..... Verwijst naar de stijl en periode die samenvielen met de heerschappij van Bajezid II, 'de vrome', van 1481 tot 1512. Bajezid zag toe op de bouw van twee complexen aan de rivieroever, het Amasya-complex, dat werd voltooid in 1486, en het Edrine-complex, dat waarschijnlijk door Hayreddin werd gebouwd in 1488. Het laatstgenoemde complex, met zijn contrasterende goudkleurige en rood zandstenen ornamenten en het donkergrijze loden dak, is een van de beste voorbeelden van de Osmaanse klassieke architectuur in het begin van haar ontwikkeling. Onder Bajezid begon de Osmaanse verhalende schilderstijl ook gestalte te krijgen. Bajezid bracht Syh Hamdullah van Amasya naar Istanboel, waar de traditie van deze grote Osmaanse kalligraaf werd voortgezet tot ver in de 18de eeuw. |
