Note: Refers to the period in Egypt from about 2925 to 2650 BCE during the First and Second Dynasties; some sources also include the Third Dynasty ending about 2575 BCE. Works of art include pottery, wall paintings, sculpture and reliefs. During this period artistic conventions were formalized effecting the pose of the human figure, the arrangement of pictorial elements in register, and in sculpture, a rigid formal depiction of the figure that preserves the quality of the stone and the shape of the block. Architecture is distinguished by the development of tomb superstructures.

Chr., ten tijde van de eerste en tweede dynastie; sommige bronnen rekenen tot deze periode ook de derde dynastie, die eindigde in circa 2575 v. Chr. Tot de kunstwerken behoren aardewerk, muurschilderingen, beeldhouwwerk en reliëfs. Tijdens deze periode werden artistieke conventies geformaliseerd. Deze hadden betrekking op de lichaamshouding van menselijke afbeeldingen, de rangschikking van beeldelementen in register en, in de beeldhouwkunst, een strenge formele weergave van de figuur waarbij de kwaliteit van de steen en de vorm van het blok behouden blijven. De architectuur onderscheidt zich door de ontwikkeling van de bovenbouw van graftomben. 
Spanish ..... Se refiere al período en Egipto desde aproximadamente el 2925 al 2650 a.C durante las I y II Dinastías; algunas fuentes también incluyen la III Dinastía que termina aproximadamente en el 2575 a.C. Las obras de arte incluyen cerámica, murales, escultura y relieves. Durante este período se formalizaron procedimientos artísticos que permitieron realizar la postura de la figura humana, la disposición de elementos pictóricos en registro y en escultura, una representación formal rígida de la figura que conserva la calidad de la piedra y la forma del bloque. La arquitectura se caracteriza por el desarrollo de superestructuras de las tumbas.
