Note: Refers to the period and style generally associated with the island of Java. In sculpture, the style is characterized by bronze works heavily influenced by the Dông-son and Indian cultures. Bone and tortoiseshell are heavily used in carvings. As Islam spread throughout Java in the 15th century, sculptural styles featured deeply carved reliefs of dynamic but less refined movement and exhibited religious themes of deliverance and redemption. The architectural style of this period features the candi, a temple complex generally featuring a roof structure constructed from layered stone adorned with turrets, circular moldings around the base, cellas, and sculptures of banaspati heads. In lapidary production, garnets, crystals, pearls, ivory, and amethysts are used in bracelets and neck pendants; court jewelry features carved iconography. Manuscript illumination also appears in Java depicting Islamic subject-matter.

| Dutch ..... Verwijst naar de periode en de stijl die in het algemeen worden geassocieerd met het eiland Java. In de beeldhouwkunst kenmerkt de stijl zich door bronswerk dat sterk is beïnvloed door de Dông-son-cultuur en de Indiase culturen. Voor beeldsnijwerken werd veel gebruik gemaakt van been en schildpad. Naarmate de islam zich in de 15de eeuw over Java verspreidde, werden de beeldhouwstijlen meer gekenmerkt door diep ingesneden reliëfs met een levendige maar minder verfijnde dynamiek en werden religieuze thema's als verlossing en redding afgebeeld. De bouwstijl uit deze periode kenmerkt zich door de candi, een tempelcomplex met meestal een dakstructuur die bestaat uit in lagen aangebrachte stenen, versierd met arkels, basementen met rond lijstwerk, cellae en beeldhouwwerken van banaspatikoppen. Granaten, kristallen, parels, ivoor en amethisten werden gebruikt in armbanden en halskettinghangers. De hofsieraden zijn voorzien van ingesneden iconografie. Op Java werden ook manuscripten geïllumineerd met afbeeldingen van islamitische onderwerpen. |
| Spanish ..... Se refiere al período y al estilo generalmente asociado con la isla de Java. En escultura, el estilo se caracteriza por piezas de bronce fuertemente influenciadas por el Dông-Son y culturas indias. Hueso y carey son muy usados en las esculturas. Cuando el Islam se extendió a lo largo de Java en el siglo XV, los estilos escultóricos se destacaron por relieves profundamente tallados de movimiento dinámico, pero menos refinado, exhibiendo temas religiosos de liberación y redención. El estilo arquitectónico de este período ofrece el candi, un templo complejo que generalmente presenta una estructura de tejado construida de piedra adornada con torreones, molduras circulares alrededor de la base, celas y esculturas de cabezas de banaspati. En producción lapidaria, se usan granates, cristales, perlas, marfil y amatistas en pulseras y pendientes para el cuello; las joyas de corte presentan iconografía tallada. Manuscritos ilustrados también aparecen en la pintura de Java representando temas islámicos. |
