Note: Refers to the period and style of art that developed during the rise of the Kamakura shogunate from 1185-1333. This period saw the rise of the provincial warrior class to a position political power, the establishment of a military government, the emergence of new sects of Buddhism and the spread of that religion from the aristocracy to the common people. In the arts, the style is characterized by dramatic, energetic wood figure sculptures, scrolls showing battles, and the rise of the Zenshuyo and Tenjinkuyo styles of architecture.

Chinese (traditional) ..... 指西元1185年至1333年,鎌倉幕府崛起期間所發展的時代與風格。當時,地方武士階級崛起,取得政權,建立了軍事政府,佛教出現新的宗派,貴族階級始信奉新宗派,而後流傳至平民百姓。這時期的藝術特色包括:活力充沛且具戲劇性的人像木雕、描繪戰役的卷軸畫、禪宗與天竺風格的建築。  
Dutch ..... Verwijst naar de periode en stijl in de kunst die zich ontwikkelde tijdens de opkomst van het Kamakura-shogunaat van 1185 tot 1333. In deze periode verkreeg de klasse van provinciale strijders een politieke machtspositie, werd een militaire regering ingesteld, ontstonden nieuwe boeddhistische sekten en breidde de religie zich van de aristocratie uit naar het gewone volk. In de kunsten kenmerkt de stijl zich door dramatische, energieke houten beelden, perkamentrollen waarop veldslagen werden weergegeven en de opkomst van de Zenshuyo- en Tenjinkuyo- stijl in de architectuur. 
Spanish ..... Refierese al período y al estilo del arte que se convirtió durante la subida del shogunate de Kamakura a partir de 1185-1333. Este período consideró la subida de la clase provincial del guerrero a una energía política, el establecimiento de un gobierno militar, la aparición de nuevos sectas del Budismo y la extensión de esa religión, de la aristocracia, al pueblo. En los artes, el estilo es caracterizado por la figura de madera dramática, enérgicas esculturas, y la subida de los estilos de Zenshuyo y de Tenjinkuyo en la arquitectura.
