Note: General term referring to wood of several species of the genus Prunus native to Asia, Europe, and North America. The close, even-grain wood is strong and smells like roses when freshly cut. It is brownish to light red in color but darkens on exposure. Cherry wood takes a high polish and is valued for instrument cases, furniture, veneers, cabinetry, turnery, and decorative items. It was formerly used for airplane propellers.

Additional Notes:
Dutch ..... Hout van verschillende typen kersenbomen die inheems zijn in Europa en de Verenigde Staten. Loopt in kleur uiteen van licht- tot donkerroodachtig met een prachtige glans en is heel geschikt voor het vervaardigen van meubilair. 
Spanish ..... Madera de árboles de varias especies nativas de Europa y Estados Unidos. Varía de color desde rojo claro a oscuro, con hermoso brillo. Muy apreciada para fabricar muebles.
