Note: A phanoerocrystalline intrusive igneous rock composed mostly of alkaline feldspar with or without a smaller amount of plagioclase and without notable quartz or nepheline content. The term can also refer to a granite varietal, quarried in antiquity at Syrene in Upper Egypt, in which biotite is substituted for or accompanied by hornblende.

Een phanoerokristallijn intrusief stollingsgesteente dat voornamelijk bestaat uit alkalisch veldspaat, eventueel met een kleine hoeveelheid plagioklaas en zonder noemenswaardige hoeveelheden kwarts of nefelien. De term kan ook verwijzen naar een granietsoort met biotiet en hoornblende, of met hoornblende in plaats van biotiet, die in de oudheid werd gewonnen in Syrene in Opper-Egypte. |
