Note: The quantitative relationship between a varying magnetic field and the electric field created by the change. This potential difference, or electromotive force, by motion of a conductor in a magnetic field is the fundamental operating principle of electrical transformers, inductors, and electrical motors. It was first observed by Michael Faraday ca. 1831, and is described by Faraday’s law of induction.

Dutch ..... De kwantitatieve verhouding tussen een wisselend magnetisch veld en het elektrische veld dat door de lading opgewekt wordt. Dit potentiaalverschil (ofwel de elektromotorische kracht) bij de beweging van een geleider in een magnetisch veld is het basisprincipe achter de werking van elektrische transformators, spoelen en elektrische motoren. Het fenomeen werd rond 1831 voor het eerst opgemerkt door Michael Faraday en wordt beschreven in diens inductiewet.
