Note: Species of medium-sized, deciduous tree native to native to Europe, southwest and central Asia, and northwest Africa. Known in three or four subspecies. It has oval, fine-toothed leaves; is long-trunked, and grows to 35 meters (115 feet) in height. The timber is primarily used for paneling and other purposes. A yellowish dye can be extracted from the fresh leaves. On wool, it produces a brass color with a chrome mordant and a yellow-brown color with an alum mordant. The extract does not dye cotton.

| Chinese (traditional) ..... 原生於歐洲、亞洲西南部與中部、以及非洲西北部的中型落葉喬木物種，已知有三或四個亞種。橢圓形葉片邊緣呈細齒狀，細長的樹幹可生長至35公尺（115英呎）高，木材常作為鑲板板材及其他用途。新鮮的葉片可萃取出一種淡黃色的染料。在毛織品中，若以鉻黃媒染劑處理，則呈現黃銅色；若以明礬媒染劑處理，則呈現黃棕色。此種萃取物不用於棉製品的染色。 |
| Dutch ..... Middelgrote loofboom die inheems is in Europa, Zuidwest- en Centraal-Azië en Noordwest-Afrika. Er zijn drie of vier ondersoorten bekend. De boom heeft ovale bladeren met een fijn getande rand. De stam is lang en de boom kan 35 meter hoog worden. Het hout gebruikt men voornamelijk voor lambrisering en andere doeleinden. Uit jonge bladeren kan men een gelige kleurstof extraheren. Wol wordt koperkleurig als men een bijtmiddel met chromium gebruikt en geelbruin met een bijtmiddel met aluin. Met het extract kan men geen katoen verven. |
