Note: Refers to watermarks that are translucent and thus lighter than the surrounding area on the sheet. Its effect is the result of a wire design laid over and sewn onto the sheet mold wire (for handmade paper) or attached to the dandy roll (for machine-made paper). The design presses against the surface of the paper and displaces fibers to make the watermark. It is a more common type of watermark.

| Chinese (traditional) ..... 指半透明的浮水印，因此在紙上比周圍的部分更亮。鋪平金屬線圖樣後，嵌在手工製紙的紙模金屬線上，或附著在機器製紙的水印滾筒上，所產生的成果。圖案會擠壓紙張表面，排除纖維，因而產生浮水印。此為常見的浮水印類型。 |
| Dutch ..... Verwijst naar watermerken die doorschijnend zijn en dus lichter dan het omringende gebied op het vel papier. Dit effect is het resultaat van een patroon in het draadwerk dat wordt bevestigd op het schepraam (bij handgeschept papier) of op de gaaswals (bij machinaal vervaardigd papier). Het ontwerp drukt tegen het papieroppervlak en perst de papiervezels opzij, waardoor het watermerk ontstaat. Dit is een vrij algemeen type watermerk. |
