Note: General term referring to any of more than 30 species belonging to the genus Lepus and sometimes used for species of other genera of the family Leporidae. They have long ears, a divided upper lip, and long hind legs adapted for leaping, but are distinguished form rabbits by significantly longer ears, longer hind feet, a shorter tail, longer body, and having young are born fully furred and with eyes wide open and seeing. The common names of species containing the word "hare" and "rabbit" are not strictly indicative of the genera to which the animals belong.

| Chinese (traditional) ..... 三十多個兔屬物種的統稱，有時也用以指兔科之下其他屬的物種。牠們具有長耳、分裂的上唇、適於跳躍的長後肢，但野兔與兔不同的地方在於，牠們的耳朵長許多，後肢較長，尾巴較短，身體較長，其幼兔出生時全身便長滿了毛，眼睛也已完全張開並可視物。常見物種名稱中的「野兔(hare)」或「兔(rabbit)」並不一定代表該動物的屬名類別。 |
