Note: A white marble variegated with green and gray due to layers of mica and mica-like minerals. It originates from the island of Euboea in the Aegean Sea and bears a resemblance to the cross section of an onion, hence its name, which derives from the Italian word for onion (cipolla). The term is now often applied to any crystalline white marble with greenish mica, particularly the schistose varieties.

Additional Notes:
Chinese (traditional) ..... 一種白色大理石,因為含有雲母及似雲母材料所形成的層疊結構,因而夾雜著綠色和灰色。源自愛琴海(Aegean Sea)的埃維厄島(Euboea),外觀類似洋蔥的橫切面,而義大利文的洋蔥為cipolla,故得名。目前常用指任何含微綠雲母的晶質白色大理石,特別是片岩品種。  
Dutch ..... Een witte marmersoort met groene en grijze strepen vanwege lagen met mica en mica-achtige mineralen. Het is afkomstig van het eiland Euboea in de Egeïsche Zee. Het marmer lijkt op een dwarsdoorsnede van een ui, vandaar de naam, die afgeleid is van het Italiaanse woord voor ui (cipolla). De term wordt tegenwoordig gebruikt voor elke vorm van kristalvormig wit marmer met groenkleurige mica, in het bijzonder de schisteuze soorten. 
Spanish ..... Mármol blanco con estrías verdes y grises por las capas de mica y de minerales semejantes a la mica. Se origina en la isla de Eubea (mar Egeo) y tiene cierta semejanza con el corte transversal de una cebolla, de donde proviene su nombre (cebolla en italiano es cipolla). El término se aplica a veces a cualquier mármol cristalino blanco con mica verdosa, en particular las variedades esquistosas.
