Note: General term for various combinations of ground, powdery pigment and aqueous binder that are used in drawing and dry painting, delivered via a crayon or stick. Pastel as a material is soft and blendable. For the crayons or sticks containing the pigment and binder, use "pastels (crayons)."

| Dutch ..... Algemene term voor diverse combinaties van gemalen, poederachtig pigment en waterig bindmiddel, die worden gebruikt voor tekenen en droog schilderen met een potlood of staafje. Pastel als materiaal is zacht en buigbaar. Gebruik 'pastelkrijt' voor de potloden of staafjes die het pigment en het bindmiddel bevatten.
