Note: Headgear dating from the Iron Age. The only known example of this garment was found preserved in peat in the 19th century. Radiocarbon-dating by the National Museums of Scotland established its origin as dating between 250 - 615 CE. The original object is considered the oldest and best-preserved textile in Britain. At least one replica has been made for study.

Additional Notes:
Dutch ..... Hoofdkap uit de ijzertijd. Het enige bekende exemplaar is in de negentiende eeuw gevonden in veengrond op de Orcaden. Uit koolstofdatering door het National Museum of Scotland is gebleken dat de kap dateert uit de periode 250-615 n.Chr. Het wordt beschouwd als het oudste en best bewaarde stuk textiel dat in Groot-Brittannië is gevonden. Voor bestudering ervan is ten minste één replica gemaakt.
